Description:

Each year, the San Jose Jazz Festival brings the best of jazz to San Jose with 80+ performances and 10+ stages located throughout downtown San Jose. Jazz, blues, latin salsa, big band & international, jazz legends and rising stars. The Jazz Fest raises funds for the San Jose Jazz's music programs, and One Brick is stepping up to help!

What we will be doing:

One Brickers will help with some of the following tasks:

  • Admission Sales:  Sell wristbands to paying attendees and distribute programs.
  • Beverage Ticket Sales:  Sell beverage tickets. Check IDs for alcoholic beverage ticket sales as needed.
  • Soda/Water Sales:  Sell soda and water in exchange for beverage tickets.
  • Jazz Store Retail Sales:  Sell merchandise in the San Jose Jazz retail store booths.

Volunteers serving alcohol must be 21 or over.

What you should know:

This is an outdoors event - please dress accordingly.  Bringing a sunhat and sunscreen is highly recommended, as is a warm layer for the cooler spots/shifts, and comfortableshoes as you will be on your feet the entire shift.  Wristbands for admission to the event are provided and the volunteers are welcome to access the event before/after their shifts.  A t-shirt and 2 beverages tickets are provided to volunteers and there is usually water available in the Volunteer Center when heading out to your shift.  Snacks are not provided.

Where to meet:

Volunteer check-in will be located at the old McWhorters store at the northwest corner of San Fernando and Market (across from St. Joseph's Cathedral).  Actual shift will start 30mins after event time posted here - this is to give time to sign in with OneBrick, get assignments and for both One Brick and San Jose Jazz to hold icebreaker, give instructions etc.

Other Info: For downtown parking details please see: http://www.sjdowntownparking.com/ Street parking is free after 6pm Mon-Sat and on Sundays. See the above link for free parking in certain San Jose lots Sat-Sun before 6pm (flat rate after).
Plan ahead and allow PLENTY of time to park.
Take public transit (CalTrain or VTA Light Rail) if possible- exit the light rail at the Santa Clara or Paseo de San Antonio stops, a couple blocks from volunteer check-in.
